England Sausage Stuffing
Ingredients
- 12
ounce breakfast sausage
- 1 egg
- 1
package (14 ounce) cubed herb seasoned stuffing
- 3
apples, about 1 1/2 pounds, unpeeled, coarsely chopped
- 2 ribs
celery, chopped about 1 cup
- 1 medium
onion, chopped about 1 cup
- 1/2 cup
butter or margarine, melted
- 1
teaspoon pepper
- 1 can
(14.5 ounce) chicken broth
- 1/4 cup
chopped fresh parsley
- 1
teaspoon dried sage
- 1/2
teaspoon dried thyme
Method
In a
skillet over medium heat cook sausage until browned and no longer pink,
7 - 10 minutes; drain on paper towels. In bowl lightly beat egg;
stir in stuffing, apples, celery, onion, butter, pepper and sausage.
Slowly stir in broth; add
parsley, sage and thyme.
Bake in a covered baking dish
for 15 minutes at 375F, uncovered for another 15 minutes, or until
stuffing is browned.
