Arabian Ribbon Cake



Ingredients:
- 3 cup baking powder (flour sifted 3 teaspoons )
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2/3 cup butter
- cup sugar
- 3 egg ( yolks, well beaten)
- 1 cup milk
- 3 egg ( whites, stiffly beaten)
- teaspoon cinnamon ( ¼ teaspoon cloves ½ teaspoon mace ½ teaspoon nutmeg 3 teaspoon dark molasses)
Directions:
Sift flour once. Measure, add baking powder and salt. Sift together 3 times. Cream butter thoroughly. Add sugar gradually and cream together until light and fluffy. Add egg yolks, beat well. Add flour alternately with milk, a small amount at a time, beating after each addition until smooth. Fold in egg whites. Fill one 9 inch layer pan. To remaining mixture, add spices. Turn mixture into 2 greased 9 inch layer pans and bake in moderate oven 350°F
