Dutch Apple Pie 1

Ingredients
Crust

  • 2 cups all purpose flour

  • 1 cup shortening

  • 2 tablespoons cold water

  • 3/4 teaspoon salt

  • 1 egg

  • 1 tablespoon white vinegar

Filling

  • enough apples peeled and sliced to fill pie plate

  • 3/4 cup white sugar

  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

  • 1 teaspoon nutmeg

  • 2 tablespoons flour

  • dash salt

  • vanilla

Method

Preheat oven to 400ºF. Toss sliced apples in white sugar, flour, lemon juice, salt and cinnamon and nutmeg. Place in pie shell.

Topping, cut in 1/3-cup butter into 2/3-cup flour, and 1/3-cup brown sugar. Pat over top of pie and bake until golden brown and fruit is soft.
