Home Made Spaghetti Sauce with Meat
Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 garlic cloves; minced
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1/2 cup chopped celery
  • 3/4 cup sliced mushrooms
  • 2 tablespoons chopped parsley
  • 1/2 cup chopped green pepper
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 pound ground pork
  • 1 (28 ounce) can tomatoes
  • 1 (5 1/2 ounce) can tomato paste
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/8 teaspoon cayenne
  • 1/2 teaspoon basil
  • 1/4 teaspoon oregano
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 bay leaf

Method
Sauté vegetables in oil until onion is golden. Add beef and pork and cook until lightly browned. Add remaining ingredients and simmer 2 hours.
Pour sauce into sterilized jar. Tie Christmas string around the neck of jar, with the recipe for making spaghetti. For example: Cook spaghetti according to directions on package. Pour sauce over spaghetti and if desired sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese. Or you can include the recipe for the home made spaghetti sauce. Place a label on top of the lid that has Made by: printed on it and print your name.
Work load way to heavy to make your own spaghetti sauce, then buy a nice jar of sauce, the specialty stores, have some very nice sauces.
Place the jar of sauce, the measure the spaghetti, candle and wine, inside of the colander, take fancy Christmas plastic wrap and bring it up around the colander and tie with Christmas string and a nice bow.
This can be made way in advance of Christmas.
