New Year's Recipe for a Party

Pizza Dough Dips

Ingredients

  • 1/2 pound sausage meat

  • 8 ounces flour

  • 1 ounce Parmesan cheese, grated

  • 2 teaspoons dried Italian mixed herbs

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 5 ounces butter or margarine

  • 4 or 5 ounces iced water

  • sliced tomato and celery sticks to dip

  • mint leaves to garnish

Sauce

  • 3 ounces tomato puree

  • 3 ounces tomato ketchup

  • 1 tablespoon oil

  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic salt

  • pepper to taste

  • dried oregano to sprinkle

  • 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese

Method

Brown sausage meat in frying pan; drain off excess fat. Heat oven to 450°F. Mix flour, cheese, herbs and salt in a bowl. Rub in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Mix sausage meat into dough mixture. Sprinkle with ice water and stir until dough is just moist enough to handle. Shape into 48 small balls and place on ungreased baking pan and bake 10 to 15 minutes or until lightly browned. 
Sauce
Put tomato puree, ketchup, oil, garlic salt and pepper in a pan. heat gently, stirring. Sprinkle with oregano and Parmesan. Serve hot with pizza dips, sliced tomatoes and celery sticks. Garnish with mint.
