teaspoon mace (optional)

cup buttermilk or sour milk

rolled oats

homemade
or canned date filling
Method
Beat
the first four ingredients together; then stir in sifted dry ingredients
alternately with milk.
Add
the oats and chill until firm enough to roll.
Roll
out on a floured board to 3/8 inch thickness, and cut into circles, 3 -
4 inches in diameter.
Dampen
the edge of each round.
Dab
center with date filling, and fold over.
Press
edges together with a fork.
Prick
the top with a fork.
Bake
on a greased cookie sheet at 375 F 10 minutes or until edges are light
brown.

Method
Combine
all ingredients in saucepan.
Cook
about 10 minutes until mixture takes on the consistency of jam, and cool
thoroughly.
