whole bran

cup milk

1/3
cup molasses

1 egg,
unbeaten

1/4
cup shortening
-
1/2
cup seedless raisins (optional)
Method
Stir
flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt together.
Combine
whole bran, milk, molasses and let stand until most of the moisture is
taken up.
Add
egg and shortening; beat well.
Add
the raisins to the dry ingredients, then blend into bran mixture, stirring
only until combined.
Fill
greased muffin pans 2/3 full.
Bake
in hot oven (400 F.) about 20 minutes.
Yield:
10 - 12 medium size muffins
