Cheesy Apple Pie

Ingredients

  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/4 cup quick cooking rolled oats
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/3 cup oil
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 6 cups apples peeled and sliced
  • 3 1/4 ounce vanilla pudding (NOT INSTANT)
  • 1/2 cup shredded American cheese
  • 1/3 cup flour
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup quick cooking rolled oats
  • 3 tablespoons margarine; softened

Method 

Preheat oven to 375°F. In a 9 inch pie pan, combine the flour oats, sugar, salt, oil and milk and mix well. Press crumbs in bottom and up sides of pan.

In a large bowl, combine apples and dry pudding mix; spoon into unbaked crust. Sprinkle apples with cheese. In same bowl, combine flour, sugar, oats, and margarine until crumbly; sprinkle on top of cheese. Bake for 40 to 50 minutes or until light golden brown and apples are tender. Serve warm.

Note: to make the top of crust brown nicely, brush the top with cream or half and half.

Yield: 8 servings
