Homemade Jams and Jellies

Crabapple Preserve

Ingredients
  • 3 - 3 1/2 quarts crabapples 
  • 12 cups water 
  • 6 cups sugar 
Method 

Wash crabapples and place with stems into clean jars. Combine water and sugar; bring to boil, stirring until sugar is dissolved. Pour syrup over crabapples. Close jars and steam in canner for 10 to 15 minutes or until apples begin to crack. Cool and store in cool, dark, dry place. 

Yield: 9 quarts
