Caramel Icing

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine
  • 3/4 cup evaporated milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 pound firm NestlesŪ caramel loaf


Method 

Cook sugar, butter and milk until it will form a soft ball (236°F). Remove mixture from heat an immediately add caramel, in pieces. Continue to stir hot mixture until all the caramel is dissolved; add vanilla. Cool and spread very thinly on cake.
