Ingredients
Combine
sugar, corn syrup and water in top of double boiler. Cook over
boiling water until syrup will spin a long thread when dropped from
a spoon or until candy thermometer reads 238°F. Remove from heat.
Meanwhile, having ready stiffly beaten egg whites. Add the beaten
egg whites and vanilla and beat until mixture is almost cold,
becomes creamy and will hold its shape when spread on cake. Grated
lemon or orange rind or almond HONEY BOILED FROSTING Make as for Boiled Frosting but substitute honey for corn syrup. Omit vanilla.
Make as for Boiled Frosting but substitute cold strong coffee for water. Omit vanilla. YIELD: |
