Whipped Cream Frosting

 

Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon unflavored gelatin 
  • 2 tablespoons cold water 
  • 1/4 cup boiling water
  • 1/2 pint whipping cream 
  • 1/4 cup icing (confectioner's) sugar 
  • few grains salt 
Method 

Sprinkle gelatin over cold water in a small bowl to soften. Pour boiling water over gelatin; stir until dissolved. Refrigerate until consistency of unbeaten egg whites, then beat until smooth. Whip cream; stir in sugar and salt. Fold in gelatin mixture. 

Yield: enough for layer cake
