Roll
Ingredients
- 1 1/2
cups sugar
- 2 cups
water
- 2 cups
flour
- 4
teaspoons baking powder
- 1
teaspoon salt
- 6
tablespoons shortening
- 3/4 cup
milk
- 1 cup
shredded apples
- butter
- cinnamon
and sugar mixture
Method
Preheat
oven to 375°F. Use
a 9 by 9 by 2 inch cake pan. Dissolve sugar and water in small
saucepan.
Simmer for five minutes and
pour into cake pan.
Make biscuit dough as follows:
Mix dry ingredients. Cut
in shortening. Add milk jut to moisten. Roll out dough on
floured surface.
Sprinkle with shredded apples. Roll
as for jelly roll and cut into slices (2 inches) thick. Place slice
in syrup in cake pan. Dot with butter and sprinkle with
cinnamon/sugar mixture. Bake until crust is brown.
Note: Just
about any fruit may be used in place of apples.
Yield:
about 15 rolls.
