Chocolate Snickerdoodles

Ingredients

  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon 
  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar 
  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened 
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 
  • 2 eggs 
  • 2 cups all purpose flour 
  • 3/4 cup cocoa 
  • 1 teaspoon cream of tartar 
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda 
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt 
  • 2 tablespoons white sugar 

Method

Preheat oven to 400° F. Combine white sugar, butter or margarine, vanilla and eggs. 
Mix well. Stir in cocoa, cream of tartar, baking soda and salt. Blend well. Shape dough into 1 inch balls. Combine 2 tablespoons sugar and 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon. Roll dough in sugar/cinnamon mixture and place 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheets. Bake 8 to 10 minutes, or until set. Immediately remove from cookie sheets.
