Chocolate Lace Cookies

Ingredients

• 1/4 pound butter; 1 stick
• 2 squares unsweetened chocolate
• 1 egg slightly beaten
• 1/4 teaspoon salt
• 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
• 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
• 1/2 cup flour
• 1 1/2 cups sugar

Method

Melt the butter and chocolate in the top of a double boiler. Combine with egg and rest of ingredients. Drop by teaspoonfuls on greased cookie sheets about 3 inches apart. Bake in preheated oven 325°f for about 12 minutes. Watch carefully to prevent burning. When nearly cool remove from cookie sheet. Place on racks to cool completely.

Yield: 36 cookies
