Walnut Praline  Cheesecake 

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup graham cracker crumbs

  • 1/2 cup walnuts; toasted, finely chopped

  • 1/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar

  • 1/4 cup margarine; melted

  • 24 ounces cream cheese; softened

  • 14 ounces sweetened condensed milk

  • 3 eggs

  • 2 teaspoons vanilla

Topping

  • 1/3 cup firmly packed dark brown sugar

  • 1/3 cup whipping cream

  • 1/2 cup chopped toasted walnuts

Method

Preheat oven to 300°F. Combine crumbs, walnuts, sugar and margarine. Press into a 9 inch spring form pan. In large mixer bowl, beat cheese until fluffy. Gradually beat in sweetened condensed milk, then eggs and vanilla until smooth. Pour into crust. Bake for 55 minutes or until center is set. Cool. Prepare topping; in saucepan, combine 1/3 cup each dark brown sugar, and whipping cream. Cook and stir until sugar dissolves. Simmer for 5 minutes or until thickened. Add 1/2 cup chopped toasted walnuts. Top cheesecake and chill. Refrigerate until serving.

Yield: 8 servings
