Buttercreams

Ingredients

  • 1 pound powdered sugar
  • 1 stick margarine
  • 2 tablespoons evaporated milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 square inch paraffin
  • 4 squares semi sweet chocolate
  • 2 tablespoons butter
Frosting
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 4 tablespoons shortening
  • enough milk to make frosting firm but useable
Method 

Candy
Cream sugar, margarine, milk and vanilla; form into 1 inch balls using hands if necessary. Put in freezer for 1/2 hour. Melt chocolate, paraffin and butter in a small heatproof dish over low heat,
Dip balls in chocolate by spearing chilled candy on a toothpick and quickly dip and swirl to cover completely; push off with second toothpick and drop a chocolate drop from tip of toothpick to cover hole in candy.

Frosting
Mix all ingredients. Food coloring optional

Yield: 4 dozen
