Fruit Cocktail Cake

Ingredients 

  • 1 1/2 cups sugar 
  • 2 teaspoons soda 
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt 
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon 
  • 2 cups flour 
  • 2 eggs 
  • 2 1/2 cups (or 1 large can) fruit cocktail, drained 
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts 
ICING 
  • 3/4 cup sugar 
  • 1/2 cup butter 
  • 1/2 cup Pet milk 
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla 
  • whipped cream 
  • cherries 
Method

Mix first 8 ingredients in order listed. Place in 9 x 13 inch greased and floured pan. Mix nuts and brown sugar and sprinkle on cake; bake at 350°F, for 40 minutes or until it tests done. 

Icing 
Boil 1 minute; remove from heat. Add vanilla; spoon over cake (it will be very thin). Serve with whipped cream and cherry
